Frequently Asked Questions
Everything below reflects ZynPey's actual features and behavior — organized by topic.
Getting Started
The basics of installing and setting up ZynPey.
ZynPey is an offline-first personal net worth and daily transaction tracker. It logs your income and expenses, tracks budgets and savings goals, and rolls every account, asset, and liability into one live net-worth figure.
No. ZynPey works fully offline for everything it does. An internet connection is only involved if you personally choose to share an exported file through another app (email, cloud storage, etc.).
Open the Accounts section and add a bank account, cash wallet, or card. From there you can start logging transactions against it, or use the central Quick Add (+) button from any tab.
Yes. ZynPey is free, with no subscription and no in-app purchases.
Account Registration & Login
Short answer: there isn't one.
No. ZynPey has no account system — no sign-up, login, username, or password. Open the app and start tracking straight away.
It lets you optionally set a display name and email address, stored only on your device, purely to personalize the app. It isn't verified and doesn't create an account.
Not applicable — there's no password or account to forget, log into, or recover.
There's no automatic cloud sync between devices, since there's no account or server. You can move data between devices manually using Backup & Restore — create a backup file on one device and restore it on the other.
Using App Features
Transactions, budgets, imports, and reports.
Use the center Quick Add (+) button from any tab, or add one directly from the Transactions tab. You can also set up a recurring transaction for things like a monthly bill or salary.
An optional, off-by-default feature that reads bank/UPI/card transaction alert SMS on your device and suggests transactions from them. Parsing happens entirely on your device — see Device Permissions in our Privacy Policy for exactly what's extracted.
Yes — CSV, Excel (.xlsx), and text-based PDF statements are supported. Scanned or image-only PDFs can't be read. Every row is shown for your review before anything is saved.
Budgets track your spending against a category limit over a period (like "₹5,000/month on Dining"). Goals track progress toward a savings target (like "₹50,000 for a trip").
Yes — Export Data in Profile shares a CSV of every transaction through your device's share sheet. There's no built-in PDF or Excel report export at this time.
A tool to compare an account's balance in ZynPey against your actual bank statement balance, to help you catch a missed or duplicate entry.
It keeps track of money you're expecting back — for example, after returning an item or cancelling a purchase — so it doesn't get lost among your other transactions.
Privacy & Security
What's stored, what's optional, and what's protected.
No. There's no backend server and no analytics or crash-reporting SDK inside the app. The only way data leaves your device is if you explicitly use Share on an export or backup file.
Only bank/UPI/card transaction alerts, and only an amount, date, direction, reference id, and merchant name extracted from them — never full message text, OTPs, or unrelated personal messages. It's off by default and revocable anytime in system Settings.
ZynPey's local database relies on your device's own OS-level storage encryption; the app doesn't add separate encryption on top of it. A backup file is an unencrypted copy of your data, so store and share it carefully. See our Data Storage and Security section for full detail.
An optional biometric or device-PIN prompt required to open the app, with a configurable re-lock timer (immediately, or after 1, 5, or 30 minutes in the background). It's off by default.
Account Deletion
There's no account, but here's how to erase your data.
Delete individual items where they appear, remove an entire import batch from Import History, or use Profile → Clear All App Data to erase everything on your device at once. Full detail is on our Data Deletion Policy page.
No. Clearing all data or deleting an item is permanent unless you made a backup first with Backup & Restore.
Uninstalling removes the app's local database along with it. It doesn't touch any backup file or CSV export you separately saved or shared elsewhere — you'll need to delete those yourself.
It means erasing the data ZynPey stores locally on your device, since that's the only place it ever exists. There's no separate server-side account to delete.
Technical Support
Troubleshooting and how to reach us.
SMS parsing is automated and best-effort, and can misread unusual alert formats. Always review a suggestion before accepting it. If a specific bank's format consistently fails, let us know which bank it is — please don't paste full message text, account numbers, or OTPs into a support request.
Only text-based PDFs are supported. A scanned or photographed statement (an image saved as a PDF) can't be read, since there's no OCR step. Try the CSV or Excel export from your bank instead, if available.
Only from a backup file you created beforehand with Backup & Restore. Because ZynPey stores data only on your device, we have no copy to restore it from ourselves. We'd recommend backing up periodically going forward.
